Ferris Haukom, Young Composer

Ferris Haukom, freshman at Stanford Online High School, studies composition with Jordan Nelson, conducting with Maxim Eshkenazy and David Cubek, violin with Elizabeth Hedman, and viola with Andrew Picken, and regularly performs with the Pasadena Conservatory Chamber Quartet and the Pasadena Youth Philharmonic.
Ferris’ other interests include quantum physics, entrepreneurship, and journalism. As the founder and creator of Hydro-Volt, a sustainable water filtration company, Ferris has been awarded the title of Conrad Innovator and Diamond Challenge Finalist. Ferris’ current project is a string quartet based on Kepler’s Harmonices Mundi, an attempt to describe the planetary orbits as concentric spheres through music.
