Emily Webster-Zuber, Young Composer
Emily Webster-Zuber is a classical pianist and composer. She began her musical studies at the Colburn School, and now is a freshman at MSMU pursuing a B.A. in Piano Performance. Emily has studied private composition with Ian Krouse since 2017 and works with Derrick Spiva at MSMU. She studied conducting Maxim Eshkenazy. As a participant of Salastina’s educational programs, her compositions have been premiered in their 2018-19 and 2019-20 season. She collaborates in Junior Chamber Music and Colburn’s Chamber Institute. Since 2018, Emily has been the director of JCM’s Student Service Alliance. She is an alumnus of Wallis Annenberg’s GRoW and LA Opera’s 90012 programs. Emily was a 2019-20 fellow in LA Phil’s Composer Fellowship Program and participated last year in SCF’s composition workshop. Alongside her sister, she co-founded Musical Traces, an organization dedicated to the development of young musicians (musicaltraces.com).
